Biography
Rim’s is a self-taught artist from Longueuil, inspired by street art and the pop art movement. His medium is digital painting, which he enhances after printing on canvas with acrylic paint.
His artistic career has been shaped by his unique vision and distinctive style. In 1986, his training in professional acting laid the foundations of his path, but it was in 1994, when he turned to teaching drama at the secondary level, that he found his true vocation. For twenty-five years, he directed multiple stage productions in parallel, allowing him to research shadows and light in a theater that focused more on imagery than text. This brought him, almost unconsciously, closer to the visual arts. This immersion in creativity later pushed him to explore new horizons, also training in screenwriting and comic book creation in 2021, upon his retirement from teaching.
Rim’s artistic influences are diverse and reflect his creative range. Artists such as Banksy, Gerardo Labarca, Claude Monet, Niko, and Andy Warhol have all fueled his imagination and helped shape his unique style. Rim’s focuses mainly on portraying close-up human and animal figures, playing with pop art-inspired colors softened to evoke a certain poetry. His work on movement adds a dreamlike quality to his compositions, making them vibrant, captivating, and distinctly contemporary.
Over the years, Rim’s has taken part in numerous exhibitions, both group and solo, steadily making his mark in the world of contemporary art. Among his past exhibitions are the collective exhibition at the Platina Community in Boynton Beach (Florida) in March 2023, the Symposium of St-Hyacinthe (Quebec) in April 2024, and his solo vernissage in June 2024 at Presse Café in Chambly (Quebec). In August 2024, he was a finalist in the competition organized by Galerie Artêria (Quebec) for the chance to exhibit at the Affordable Art Fair in New York. In July 2025, he exhibited alongside Gerardo Labarca and 45 other artists at Galerie Perkins in Melbourne, as well as at the Sainte-Julie Library. In August 2025, he participated in the Valleyfield Symposium. In September 2025, he held a solo exhibition at Maison Garth in Lorraine, on Montreal’s North Shore. In October, he will take part in the fall competition-exhibition of the Association of Painters of Montreal’s South Shore.
Beyond recognition and achievements, Rim’s above all seeks to communicate an emotional story through his art. His works embody self-surpassing, the moment when one pauses to savor the present. His motivation lies in the ability of his creations to move, to spark smiles, to awaken memories. For him, art goes beyond simple aesthetics: it is a way to inspire others to become better, to take pride in their own growth.
